The name Twillingate comes from the French word "Toulinquet" which was given to the islands by French fishermen, who named them after a group of islands off the French coast, near Brest, also called Toulinquet.
Fish Fun & Folk Festival

Twillingate's annual Fish Fun and Folk Festival attracts visitors from near and far who join the town in celebrating a week of friendship, fun, music and food. It is the height of Twillingate's summer season and a wonderful time to be in the town.
Enjoy lots of craft, food, entertainment and activities in the George Hawkins Arena and take part in fireworks, community feasts, dances and numerous other fun events.
